Dear Volunteers,
The weeks are flying by, and before we know it, we’ll be in the middle of the Roots on the River festival! Some things need to be in place before then, and one is a list of our volunteers for the program, or at least as close as I can get at this point.
If you have already filled out the volunteer form on the website, thank you very much. If you have not, please take a couple of minutes today to do so. I wouldn’t want you to be left out of the program, and it is being crafted as I write this!
I need all this information from all of you, whether you have volunteered in the past or not, just to ensure we are up to date with your address, email and telephone.
*I will also need to know by MAY 1 if you are going to buy a t-shirt and what size. (The color is still a surprise!). This is new this year. We decided to request that you purchase a special volunteers t-shirt at cost after getting feedback from many of you last year. They will be distinctly different than what is available to the general audience and will help concertgoers to recognize you. We realize that if you are only volunteering for one shift you might not want to make this purchase, and that is fine.
A reminder, the work exchange is eight hours of volunteer work for one non-transferable full weekend pass, four hours of volunteer work for that day’s pass. We have a few spots available for Saturday only work. I need to know what days you will be attending and whether you want to work the full weekend or just one day.
We try to accommodate any requests for time off to watch a favorite act, or at least try to schedule you to be by the stage during that act if possible. I'll let you know in May if special requests are possible.
Additionally, we will have a special pre-festival training session for those who are doing some of the more demanding tasks such as box office or merchandise. More on that later.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you all, and, of course, seeing you again in June if not before.
Truly, this festival could not happen without our volunteers, and we appreciate every minute you donate, whether taking tickets or constructing stages, parking cars, or ushering Fredheads.
Let me know if I can answer any questions. Email me or call 802-463-9333.
Best to all, Dot
